CA Monarch and Pollinator Habitat Kits

The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation is excited to announce they are now accepting project proposals for their 2025 California Habitat Kit season. If you are interested in receiving free, high quality, native plant materials for your pollinator conservation project, this program is for you.
Kits are intended to be used to create or enhance monarch and pollinator habitat on working lands, public lands, tribal lands and private/non-working lands recovering from wildfires, with landowner or land manager collaboration. More details about the program can be found here.
They will be accepting Project Proposals from Feb 10-April 4, 2025. To apply for this program, please fill out the project proposal form. The form asks for information about where the kit will be planted, size of the area, and plans for site preparation, management, and maintenance, as well as plans for pesticide risk mitigation and outreach opportunities, if applicable. Project partners are selected based on the information provided on the proposal form, so please answer questions with as much detail as possible. The form allows you to scroll through to see all of the questions at the beginning of the process, and to save your responses so you can work on it over time.
Plants will be ready to pick up in October or December (Southern CA only). Participants are responsible for picking up their plants at the designated distribution locations. People who receive kits are expected to fill out a short planting notification form after the kits have been planted and to submit a short final report in June 2026. More information on pick up locations and reporting can be found here.
